Ascending the Reforged Portal
It might be nice to create a pseudo campaign that a user can play with. This should be a fresh copy for every http connection, so one person’s sandbox is just that, a sandbox that won’t interfere with any one else’s experience on the web. This should not be directly accessible through the My Campaigns list, but rather through some sort of help page? Or when a new campaign is created it includes a link to a sandbox, e.g. something along the line of obsidianportal.com/sandbox/cookieHashOrMemberTag/. .
This pseudo campaign can be pre-populated with links to video and other help content and walk the user through the various activities. In particular it would provide a straightforward place to test the custom css work a user might be doing, (though he might have to manually create some site content to really do the test). This might mean that the user should be allowed to “save” the sandbox? (Non members would need to have a cookie.) To avoid cluttering the database, maybe sandbox campaigns should “expire” after some period of non use (30 days).
If sandbox campaign does have some sort of (temporary) life, the pages should come with a watermark, perhaps and email reminder to members if the life time is about to expire and a way for a member to transform his work into a permanent one.
